Placement

Three campus placement drives have been conducted at RIPS so far in 2017. The HR officials of the companies conducted the placement interview at the RIPS placement cell. Dr. Anjan Kumar, Placement Officer coordinated the campus interviews.

24th January 2017: M/S DBI-360, Texas, USA shortlisted 08 candidates.

05th March 2017: M/S Macleods Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mumbai screened 84 candidates by written test and personal interview and shortlisted 15 candidates.

14th March 2017: Glaxosmithkline conducted a campus selection process and 08 candidates were shortlisted.

FDP and Conferences

Faculties and students of RIPS participated various in various training, FDPs, conferences and seminars during last one year.

22nd-23rd October 2016: Two of the faculty members (Mr. Debashish Ghose & Mr. Jiten Mishra) attended the training programme sponsored by BPUT on “ Pharmacy Education: New Challenges” held at Gayatri College of Pharmacy, Sambalpur.

16th – 18th December 2016: Faculties and students of RIPS attended the 68th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress-2016 held at Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh..Principal Prof. M.E.Bhanoji Rao contributed to the poster presentation session at IPC as an expert evaluator for Pharmaceutics and NDDS. Asst. Professor G.K. Jena, M.Pharm students Miss. S.S. Patanaik and Miss. R. Samanta presented research poster during the IPC.

19th-24th December 2016:Three of the faculty members of RIPS (Dr. Anjan Kumar, Mr. R.N. Rana and Mr. K.C. Panigrahi) attended  week long FDP sponsored by BPUT on “Improving Teaching Methodology & Research” held at CIME, BBSR. During the FDP the faculties were trained and skilled to improve teaching methodologies and research skills.

3rd -5th March 2017: Two of the RIPS faculties (Mr. G.K.Jena and Mr. K.C. Panigrahi) and Miss. A. Debasriya of B.Pharm 3rd year participated   and presented scientific poster presentation in the International Conference on “ Recent Trends of Chemical & Biological Science in Medicine, Natural Product and Drug Discovery” IC-RTCBSMNPDD-2017  held at PG Department of Chemistry , Berhampur University.

19th March 2017: Twelve faculties along with 52 UG & PG students have participated in the APTICON-Odisha 2017 with theme “ Pharmaceutical Teaching & Research in Odisha: An Introspection” held  at MKCG Auditorium, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Miss Naseema Ahmed of Department of Pharmacology, RIPS secured 3rd position during scientific poster presentation session at APTICON.

20-21st April 2017: Mr. Sagar Suman Panda, Asst. Professor participate in the two day 4th International Conference QbD in Pharma Development World Congress 2017” with the theme "Emerging Challenges, Federal Issues & Possible Solutions" held at in Hyderabad, India. He also presented a poster  entitled “QbD based enhanced liquid-liquid extraction of telaprevir from rat serum and its quantification by a QbD compliant UFLC method”. During the two days the delegates were trained by experts and scientists on the key elements of QbD, including the QTPP, CQAs, QRM, CMA, CPP and control strategy etc., as enumerated in the ICH guidelines viz. Q8, Q9, Q10 and Q11.

 

RIPONOVA Cell Activities

The RIPONOVA cell of RIPS is constantly active in creating awareness among the students and staff through conducting various events and functions. The Independence Day i.e. 15th August 2016 was celebrated at RIPS in association with RIPONOVA cell during which various competitions for patriotic song and dance were conducted.

To name a few; World Diabetes Day, Cancer Day etc. were observed by this cell. A quiz competition “ Biswajeet Memorial Quiz Competition” (named after one of RIPS student) was also conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.

Annual Function 2017

The annual day of RIPS “ ELIXIR-2017” was celebrated on 22nd Feb 2017. Chief guest & renowned endocrinologist of the city Dr. Sunil Kota, MD, DNB highlighted on role of pharmacists in effective diabetes management. Retired Academician Prof. G.S. Tripathi was the guest of honor for this event. Among others Principal Prof. (Dr.) M.E. Bhanoji Rao, Chairperson Mrs. J.Jayalakshmi addressed the students. Vice-Principal Prof. B.V.V.Ravi Kumar read the annual report of RIPS.

In the evening cultural events were organized with active participation from faculties and students.

The programme was ovarally co-ordinated by Mr. S.S. Panda, Asst. Professor along with Co-cordinators Mr. S.K.Patro & Mr. K.C.Panigrahi, Asst. Professors.

One Day National Workshop on QbD

A one day workshop on the title “Quality by Design (QbD) and Its Application in Pharmaceutical Development” was organized in the prestigious Roland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Berhampur on the 26th of December 2016. This workshop is first of its kind in the state of Odisha. Faculties, research scholars and post graduate students from different pharmacy colleges across Odisha and neighboring states attended this workshop.

Welcoming the participants of the workshop, the principal of institution, Prof. M. E. Bhanoji Rao underlined the importance of the workshop on Quality by Design (QbD) concept in Pharma industries. Chairperson of the institute Smt. J. Jayalakshmi emphasized on the role of quality healthcare system in society. Among other guests Director Dr. J. Surya Rao, Vice-Principal Prof. B.V.V. Ravi Kumar were also present at the workshop.

Mr. Sarwar Beg, Research Scientist, Jubilant Generics Ltd. trained the participants on the important aspects of practicing QbD and its vital applications in the field of pharmaceutical drug development process at the workshop. Mr. Beg who is a recipient of various young scientist awards like “Ranbaxy-Sun Pharma Young Researcher Award”, addressed the key issues of quality drug production and quality risk management. With the help of case studies Mr. Beg conducted the workshop in an excellent manner including hand-on training to the participants. He said that implementing QbD in drug product development is the right solution to the quality issues for exporting to US market. Coordinator of the workshop, Mr. Sagar Suman Panda, Asst. Professor addressed the participants, threw insights into various applications of QbD in analytical sciences and also conducted the interactive session.

At the end of the programme Certificates were given away to the participants and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Anjan Kumar during the valedictory session.
