The alumni meet of RIPS,
Nostalgia 2008 was organized by the Roland Pharma Alumni
Association on 26th October, 2008 in the premises
if Roland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Berhampur.
It was an emotional and nostalgic moment for those 101
passed out students, who spared their valuable time to
step-into their alma-mater after quiet a long time. A warm
welcome was accorded to them, which they described as very
much touching.
Inaugural function:
The day-long programme
began with registration of the alumni at 9.00 A.M. At the
outset Prof M. E. Bhanoji Raol, Principal extended warm
greetings to all the alumni and guests. Lighting of the lamp
by guests marked the inauguration of the function. The
inaugural functions held at 10.30 A. M., with the arrival of
the Chief Guest, Prof. Omkarnath Mohanty, Honourable Vice
Chancellor, Biju Patnaik University of Technology. In his
address Prof. Mohanty lauded the progress made by the
institute. He said that Indian scientists have made
significant and remarkable contribution in the field of
science and technology. Underlining the importance of
inter-disciplinary research, he urged the pharmacy students
to take up research in some of the challenging area such as
nano biotechnology. He concluded that moral and ethical
values are indeed indispensable in teaching and research.
Chief
Speaker Prof. D. Rambhau, Advisor, NATCO Research Centre,
Hyderabad expressed happiness that the alumni of RIPS have
been occupying good positions not only in India but also in
abroad as well. He appreciated the efforts of the management
and teachers for strengthening research activities.
Smt. J Jayalakshmi,
Chairperson, RIPS in her assress congratulated the alumni on
scaling new heights and keeping the flag of Roland high. Dr.
J. Surya Rao, Director of the institute expressed the
happiness and satisfaction in the large gathering of alumni
in order to make the programme a grand success.
Hon'ble VC inaugurating the session
Prof. S Sreenivas Patro,
Secretary of the association read out the report on the
activities of Roland Pharma Alumni Association during the
last four years. He suggested that alumni should contribute
meaningfully towards the growth and development of the
association and alma mater.
Prof M E Bhanoji Rao,
Principal and President of the association enumerated the
achievements of the institute as well as of the students. He
took the invitees down the memory land in order to inspire
one and all.
This year Nostalgia saw
the foot falls of 101 alumni. All of them were felicitated
by the Chief Guest with a memento.
The function concluded
with vote of thanks proposed by Sri Chittaranjan Panda.
Interactive Session:
In the post
lunch session, an interactive session was held between
alumni and the final year students of B. Pharm and M. Pharm.
Distinguished alumni form different fields were invited to
the dais to field the questions raised by the students. The
session was quite lively and engrossing. The students got
first hand information about placement in industry. The
alumni advised that the students should have right kind of
attitude, endurance and commitment to work for getting a job
and assured all possible help.
