Tara Tarini(25KM)

                  On the bank of the river Rushikulya near the village Purushottampur, the shrine of twin Goddess Tara and Tarini adorns the hilltop amidst natural beauty. There is a flight of about 1000 steps as well as a motor able road from the foothill to the hilltop. The shrine is considered to be a Shakti Peetha of Tantra cult.

 

Taptapani(50KM)

Set against the evergreen thick forest, Taptapani is known for its Hot Sulphur Spring, a bath in winter is so refreshing. During rainy season, clouds roam around the foliage. An OTDC Panthanivas with bath tubs, directly connected to the hot spring, is near the spring.

 

Chilka(60KM)

Situated between 190.38' and 190.54 North latitude and 850.54' and 850.38' East longitude, Chilka, the largest brackish water lagoon with estuarine character sprawls along the eastern seacoast over an area of 1100 sq kms. Any visit to Orissa remains inconclusive without a visit to Chilka, which in itself has remained a favorite destination. With its unique flora and fauna, Chilka has a highly productive eco-system having rich fish resource that sustain the livelihood of more than hundred thousand families living in and around it. Broadly divided into four natural sectors based on salinity and depth, Chilka attracts visitors to its numerous islands, prominent among which are Nalabana, Kalijai, Somolo, Honeymoon, Breakfast, Birds and Rajahansa island. Because of its rich bio-diversity and socio-economic importance, Chilka was designated as a Ramsar site under the convention of wetlands, of International importance.

 


Gopalpur(10KM)

The tiny town of Gopalpur on the bay of Bengal hills 10 KM drive from Berhampur. Enjoying the reputation of being a popular Beach Resort of Orissa, the deep and clear blue water instantly provoke the tourist to jump into. A fascinating haunt for avid beach combers and sea worshipers, it is a splendid retreat. Intense heat of summer is tempted  by the sea breeze in the fantastic quietness of the beach amidst palm, coconut and casuarinas trees.    A trip to Gopalpur-on-sea is a rewarding experience of sun and sea, fun and frolic and is a must visit for everyone around.
